Future entrepreneurs supported by IT from the cloud
Young Enterprise North West and Nasstar are pleased to announce their new partnership through which Nasstar has become YENW IT Function Supporter, supplying the Nasstar Hosted Desktop to the business and enterprise education charity.
Young Enterprise North West (YENW) is a regional division of the national education charity Young Enterprise. Working with students aged 4-25+, it delivers a range of nine programmes, taking a ‘learning by doing’ approach to its mission: ‘to inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through enterprise.’
Nasstar plc, an AIM-quoted company, makes computing a simple Internet subscription service, enabling subscribers to its Hosted Desktop service to do all of their computing in the Internet cloud rather than on a local computer. Hosted Desktop provides access to their desktop, files, applications and email over the Internet, providing a real alternative to traditional on-premise computing.
As YENW IT Function Supporter, Nasstar has provided all YENW staff with a Hosted Desktop, enabling the charity to transfer its business data into the cloud. Gary Wood, IT Services Manager for YENW explains: ‘Working with over 35,000 students last year alone, YENW’s relatively small staff team demand efficient IT solutions to manage both our programmes and volunteers. Backed by Nasstar’s exceptional service levels, our staff can work at any time, from anywhere in the world, and access their normal Microsoft desktop just as if they were at their desk in the office.’
Young Enterprise relies on the generous support of companies like Nasstar, at both regional and national level, to enable it to reach so many students, and make a positive difference. Supporters of Young Enterprise help to shape the workforce and business minds of tomorrow by providing financial assistance, in-kind support, and a network of volunteers to help deliver the charity’s education programmes by sharing the benefit of their first-hand experience with the students.
Following the launch of its Nasstar Hosted Desktop service on 7 September, Young Enterprise North West will no longer have to manage a large budget for IT hardware and software upgrades, all of which will now be taken care of by the Nasstar Hosted Desktop platform.
YENW Chief Executive, Matt Stevenson-Dodd said, “We are really grateful for Nasstar’s generous support. We were pleased to add the Nasstar name and logo to our supporters list, and we now look forward to many years of trouble-free computing through a partnership that will benefit both Nasstar and YENW.”
Commenting on the partnership, Charles Black, Nasstar’s CEO said, “We are delighted to support the entrepreneurial get up and go culture that Young Enterprise fosters and working with YENW we are helping them to focus their resources where they need to be, developing Young Enterprise in the north west region.”
